The Great Gardens Story

A Family-Rooted Legacy in Landscaping Great Gardens

Great Gardens Landscaping’s story began in 2003, nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of the Mid North Coast. It was a heartfelt passion project, a father-and-son joint venture fuelled by dedication and a love for the land. Chris New, Manager and one of the directors, laid the foundation for what has blossomed into a thriving landscaping business.
From its modest origins, Great Gardens never envisioned becoming a large enterprise. Driven by an unwavering commitment to family values and ethical practices, the company flourished under Chris’s leadership. A tight-knit team emerged, each member playing a crucial role in the company’s success.

Grant Ward is responsible for managing and optimising the use of assets within the organization. Belinda Fisher plays a vital role in maintaining the stability and efficiency of administrative functions, ensuring smooth operations. Meanwhile, Jessica Hopper is dedicated to nurturing a supportive and inclusive human resources environment, prioritising the health and well-being as well as the development of team members. On the ground, supervisors Garry, Ian, Lewin, and Kane ensure every project thrives, their expertise shines through in every meticulous detail.

The first major project, aptly named “The Summit,” proved to be a pivotal moment for Great Gardens. This comprehensive housing estate and subdivision project demanded a diverse range of skills, from intricate revegetation to striking entrance signs, functional car parks, sturdy retaining walls, and captivating dry creek beds. The team rose to the challenge, delivering exceptional workmanship and meticulous attention to detail. “The Summit” became a cornerstone, marking the beginning of Great Gardens’ reputation for excellence that continues to resonate today.

Today, Great Gardens has blossomed into a team of 20, a vibrant tapestry woven with the expertise of four dedicated supervisors, two managers and 14 skilled labourers. Their well-equipped fleet boasts a range of vehicles, plant machinery, trucks, and specialised equipment, ready to tackle any landscaping challenge. But beyond the machinery and manpower, the heart of Great Gardens remains in its family-rooted values and positive organisational culture. This fosters a collaborative spirit, where every member feels valued and empowered to contribute their unique talents.

As Great Gardens continues to thrive, delivering exceptional landscaping and revegetation projects throughout the Mid-North Coast and beyond, one thing remains constant: their unwavering commitment to family values, ethical practices, and meticulous attention to detail. It’s a legacy rooted in the past, blossoming into a vibrant future, one carefully landscaped masterpiece at a time.

What Our Clients Say

The landscaping team adapted to site conditions well, adhering to safety requirements and working with adjacent trades, all while being spread over 22km of construction site. Regular programming was important to landscape areas as soon as they became available and this was successfully managed. The staff were well-trained and were not dependent on constant supervision, allowing them to work across multiple sections of the site at any one time. Having directly managed this contract, I was very satisfied with the overall performance and commitment of Great Gardens to this project and I would not hesitate in recommending Great Gardens for future works.
